Vinca major [Bigleaf periwinkle]
Description: Bigleaf periwinkle (Chinese: 夹竹桃科,蔓长春花) is a species of flowering plant in the family of Apocynaceae, native to the western Mediterranean. It is an evergreen perennial plant which can grow to 25cm tall and spread indefinitely, frequently used as groundcover. The leaves are opposite, nearly orbicular at the base of the stems an lanceolate at the apex. The flowers are axillary and solitary, violet-purple, 3-5cm diameter, with a five-lobed corolla. The flowering period extends from early spring to autumn.
